Wait and see

Burma’s regime has made too many promises to reform ,we will see the result in the near future.   How many political prisoners have been released ,whether those who are released aren't being harassed or re-arrested. The transparency of elections and so on.

The Real Change

The United States will send an ambassador to Burma upon the political prisoners freed in amnesty on Friday 13th January 2012.   They will be studying additional steps it can take to support reforms in the country.   We all welcomed on the amnesty with the heartfelt of joy even some were freed under conditions.   They  are free , so they can play a big role  in the political process.  On the other hands, the rest of all the political prisoners (many obscured dissidents) behind the bars need to be freed as soon as possible, so that we all can make sure the country is in real change for better.

“To view the opposition as dangerous is to misunderstand the basic concepts of democracy. To oppress the opposition is to assault the very foundation of democracy.”
― Aung San Suu Kyi, Letters from Burma

It is a must

Aung San Suu Kyi, a pro-democracy leader in Burma has said "Until political prisoners have been released, and until we are all allowed to take part in the political process in the country, I do not think we can call it real change.  Burmese democracy activists and international made so many calls to release her from house arrest; she was finally released late last year.  She has spent 15 years under house arrest as a political prisoner.  Ever since her release, she has called for the release of all political prisoners. There are currently more than 1,500 political prisoners in Burma, including student leaders, monks and women.  Some are serving sentences of 100 years or more.  A few weeks ago hundred of prisoners with less than a year left on their sentences were released when the government granted “amnesty”.  The long-term serving criminals were released  but political prisoners are still left behind the bars.
Hunger strikes are still occurring in prisons throughout Burma. The health condition of political prisoners is in danger for the lack of access to healthcare. Although most of the political prisoners in Burma were sentenced by the previous administration and the administration has changed, the political prisoners remain in jail. How can we believe that the current government is trying to democratic reform? Burma’s political prisoner and their families are getting tired off their tricks and talks.  We all need to call for the release of all of the country’s political prisoners.  Free all Burma political prisoners unconditionally.
